Over 40 years of exprience

Wind in the Willows’ journey started in 2010 when Kerry Yeates the owner was given the opportunity of having her own provision. We started out in a community hall which within time we out grew resulting in the building you see today. We are Family run and have over 40 years’ experience within Early years.

Children have a natural desire to learn, explore and question the world around them. Within the setting we offer an environment that enables child-initiated play in order to capture the moments of engagement that matter. Careful observation by the “Teachers” as we are known is key to utilising the approach of in-the-moment planning. The opportunities are endless and that is why we allow children to show their interest in an activity, which we as a setting can build upon to meet the needs of all children.

  Our Accreditation award

At Wind in the Willows Pre-school, we have successfully completed an Accreditation Platinum Award in June 2022. The objective of this award was to make an impact on our setting and day to day practise. We look at the intent of our practise, how we then implement this into the setting and what impact this has on us overall. All rooms have completed a floor book to provide evidence on our reflective practise.

All visitors are welcome to view our floor books, please ask on arrival.

How we plan for your children’s next steps

At Wind in the Willows we follow the Early Years Foundation stage and In the Moment Planning; children develop quickly within the early years. Our early years Teachers aim to provide all they can to help children to have the best possible start in life. At Wind in the Willows Preschool LTD we follow the “Eyfs” known as the Early Years Foundation Stage. It sets out:

  • The legal welfare requirements to keep your child safe.
  • The seven areas of learning and development.
  • Assessments that will tell you about your child’s progress through the EYFS.
  • Expected levels (Early Learning Goals) that your child should reach at age 5, usually the end of the reception year.

Here at Wind in the Willows we use “In the moment planning” to track children’s progression. The EYFS and in the moment planning go hand in hand.
