Our Day
Here at Wind in the Willows we aim to support and guide your children through their early years. Throughout the setting we follow a routine which is tailored to suit the age and stage of all children. Our typical day would consist of the following;
- Registration – Where children learn golden rules/numbers and weather
- Free flow play – focused on the outdoor area environment
- Snack – a variety of health snacks to choose from
- Letters and sounds/blast – learning listening and attention skills and speech
- Story – We love all stories
- Lunch – bring your own packed lunch / or speak to us about hot meals
As a setting we understand children thrive on experiences in their environment, we offer “free flow play” within the setting. Although, most of our play is done outside as we feel children get so much more to explore. We have developed our outdoor area by adding outdoor class rooms, mud kitchens, cleaning stations and pet area. We also have undercover areas were children can find shelter from the weather.
Our Animals
We feel the outdoor environment is key to children’s development alongside nature. We currently have; 6 Rabbits, 3 Rex Rabbits called Buttercup, Lucky and Casper, 2 Large Lops called Flopsy and Mopsy and 1 Giant Lop, named Matila – all rabbits have had their vaccinations and are up to date. We have 2 Guinea-pig called Penelope & Roxy. 2 Tortoises called Ted and Jennifer. We also have 1 Chicken, Polly that the children have had since hatching.
